Iot based Display of Underground Cable Fault Distance Over Internet System: The display of underground cable fault distance over internet system is a very important system for searching the exact fault location and displaying this location on internet sources. In this modern world, our transmission and distribution of power is mostly becoming through underground cabling system. This underground cabling system has some advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are low voltage drop, low maintenance, low chances of fault occurring and is very suitable in urban areas where overhead transmission lines are not easy to install. But the disadvantages are, this is so much expensive and very difficult to search the exact fault location.

Different companies have designed their system for exact fault location and distance but their system does not have the facility of displaying this fault and distance on internet services. Here we have designed a system that is called a display of underground cable fault distance over internet system. This system has designed with the help of Pic microcontroller 18F452, Max232, ADC 0808 and WIFI modem. By using this system, the supply company can easily search the exact fault distance at their work place and save their precious time and cost.

Component used in Display of Underground Cable Fault Distance Over Internet System

Transformer: In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the transformer is used for step down the ac voltages. It works on the principle of mutual induction and here it steps down the 220V ac into 12V ac.

Bridge Rectifier:In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the bridge rectifier is used for converting the ac voltages into dc voltages for supplying the dc supply to the all components of this system. It is connected at the output of transformer.

Blocking Diode:In this system, the blocking diode is used for blocking the reverse saturation current.

Voltage Regulator:In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the voltage regulator is used for regulating the dc voltages. It regulates the 12V dc into 5V dc and connected at the output of bridge rectifier. The LM7805 voltage regulator have been using here.

LCD Display:In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the LCD display is used for displaying the fault location or distance in kilo meters. It is powered up with 5V dc and is interfaced with microcontroller.

Max232:In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the max 232 is used for the serial communication between the microcontroller and GSM modem. It is 16pins integrated circuit IC and here it is interfaced with microcontroller.

GSM Modem:In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the GSM modem is used for connecting this system with mobile network system. The GSM modem accepts the sim card and operate just like a mobile phone. When it relates to the computer then it allows the computer to use the GSM modem to communicate over mobile network.

Microcontroller PIC 18F452:In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the microcontroller is used for controlling purpose of this system. It is 40 pins integrated circuit controller and is powered up with 5V dc. It is programmed in c language with the help of mikro/c software and is interfaced with GSM modem, DC 0808 and relay driver IC.

ADC 0808: In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the ADC0808 is used for converting the analogue inputs into digital logic output for microcontroller and is powered up with 5V dc.

Relay Driver:In this system, the relay driver IC is used for switch on or off the multiplexed relays. It is 16 pins integrated circuit IC and is interfaced with microcontroller.

Multiplexed Relays:In this display of underground cable fault distance over internet system, the multiplexed relays are the scanning relays and is used for scanning the ground fault distance.

Working Principle of the Display of Underground Cable Fault Distance Over Internet System

This display of underground cable fault distance over internet system works on the principle of scanning or multiplexed relays. These relays are configured with respect to the distance such as some 1,2 or 3 in kilo meters. Here for the demonstration purposes we have used different cables and then configure them in kilo meters’ distance. When the fault is occurred or we shorted any cable through the connected switch then this fault is sense by the microcontroller through the ADC 0808.Then microcontroller gives the logic signal to the relay driver IC then this relay driver IC switched on multiplexed relays. Then by switched on the cross ponding multiplexed relay, the microcontroller tells the fault distance because these relays are configured with respect to the distance. During this, the microcontroller displays this data or distance reading at LCD display and too sent this data or distance reading to the mobile network system through the GSM modem. Then this data or distance reading is displayed by the computer through mobile network system using dedicated website. This data or distance reading is showed in the form of different graphs on dedicated website.
