Proteus Video Tutorials for Circuit Designing

Proteus is very popular among electrical, electronics, and computer engineering students. Many students worldwide use Proteus for electrical engineering projects and microcontroller-based projects. In this article, we are going to look at proteus tutorials. These are video tutorials on Proteus. Because, according to the latest research, people learn faster with video lectures than reading. That’s why I have made these video tutorials for those who want to learn about the very famous software Proteus. It is a very famous software used by electrical, electronics, computer, and telecom engineering students for the simulation of electrical, electronics, and microcontroller-based circuits.

Introduction to Proteus

Proteus is a simulation software for electric circuits provided by Labcenter Electronics. Proteus provides these types of platforms for the simulation and design of electric circuits. The main platform of Proteus is the intelligent schematic input system (ISIS). ISIS is used for simulation of electrical, electronic, embedded system, and microcontroller-based circuits. Proteus VSM is complete software for learning microcontrollers. Because it has built-in libraries for many series of microcontrollers like Microchip, ARM, AVR, 8051, etc. The latest version of Proteus also contains a built-in compiler to write code for these microcontrollers. Proteus latest version includes the following interactive features for the simulation of microcontroller-based circuits:

  • Graph-based simulation
  • Libraries of many microcontrollers
  • Many peripheral modules like LEDs, LCDs, keypads, graphic LCD displays, RS232 terminals, switches, push buttons, motors, LEDs, lamps, etc.
  • Virtual instruments like oscilloscopes, counters, timers, voltmeters, ammeters, etc.
  • SPICE components
  • Direct simulation of microcontrollers based circuits by built in C compilers
  • ARES for PCB designing

It is difficult to mention each and every feature of Proteus in this article. But I have discussed maximum features in my video lectures below.

Why Electrical Engineers should Use Proteus

In their first year of engineering, electrical engineers study the basics of electrical engineering, but they don’t get a chance or time to work on practical aspects of electrical and electronics engineering. They also don’t find more interactive, practical work in the lab. But with the help of Proteus, first-year electrical engineering students can get their hands dirty with practical knowledge of electrical and electronics-based circuits.

But now the question comes into someone’s mind: how to use Proteus to learn electrical and electronic circuits more interactively? I will answer this question with the help of one example. For example, you are studying electronic devices and circuits in your first year of engineering. To learn electronics devices in a better way, you can use built-in simulator models of electronics devices to learn their behavior. For example, you are studying half-wave rectification circuits in your class, and your instructor told you about the output wave forms of a half-wave rectification circuit. To learn this circuit in a better way, you can use Proteus to simulate it and verify the results.

How to Learn Proteus

It is difficult for anyone to learn all the features of any software at once. The best way to learn any software is through practice. To learn Proteus, one should use it with practical examples. we have made the following video lectures with examples of electrical and electronic circuits: we will keep updating this post with new video lectures regularly. So keep visiting our blog for more video lectures.

Tutorial 2: Voltage and current measurement using voltage and Ammeter :

Tutorial 3: Half wave rectification using Proteus and graph base simulation :

Tutorial 4: full wave rectification and graph based simulation in Proteus :

Tutorial 5: how to use transistor as a switch :

Tutorial 6: How to use oscilloscope to measure AC voltage in Proteus :

Tutorial 7: How to use Proteus for digital logic design learning :

Conclusion

The use of Proteus has become increasingly popular among electrical, electronics, and computer engineering students worldwide. This powerful simulation software provides a comprehensive platform for designing and simulating electrical circuits, microcontroller-based projects, and embedded systems. With its intelligent schematic input system (ISIS) and extensive library of microcontrollers and peripheral modules, Proteus offers a rich learning experience for students. Its interactive features, such as graph-based simulation and virtual instruments, enable users to gain practical knowledge and explore the behavior of circuits. Proteus proves to be an indispensable tool for electrical engineers, allowing them to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and hands-on experience. By utilizing Proteus, students can enhance their understanding of electrical and electronic circuits and unlock the potential to excel in their studies and future endeavors.

    • You don’t need an mcu, you can do it easily with industrial 3 phase contactors & a timer unit – it’s very basic electrical engineering implementation. If you understand the basic principles in your mind it will all click into place. Don’t forget to use Type “D” 3 phase circuit breaker. As a quick rule of thumb, double the KW value of the motor to arrive @ the value of your circuit breaker, so a 7.5Kw 3phase motor will need a 15A type “D” 3 phase breaker. Of course I’m old & grey now & I’m thinking back 25yrs so don’t criticise me too harshly!
