Automatic Wireless Health Monitoring System in Hospitals for Patients

Automatic Wireless Health Monitoring System in Hospitals for Patients: Automatic wireless health monitoring system is a very significant system for keep monitoring constantly the temperature of human body. Temperature is a very important factor for knowing the current health condition of every patient. Nowadays in hospitals, keep monitoring of every single patient is not quite easy due to lack of hospitals employees and for this reason, so many patients have been died every year such as in India or Pakistan. This have become ambiguous problem of every hospital. Here we have proposed a prototype system that is called automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients. It has made with the help of pic microcontroller 18F452, temperature sensor DS 1621, Encoder, transmitter and RF module. This system would be keep monitoring the patient’s body temperature constantly and then displays this, to relative doctor’s LCD display through RF communication system. This automatic wireless health monitoring system is less costly, more reliable and consume less power as compared the other systems.

Components List with Detail of the Automatic Wireless Health Monitoring System in Hospitals for Patients:

This automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients has following components detail list.

Transformer: In this automatic wireless health monitoring system, transformer is used for power up this whole system through 220 V ac. It consists of two windings and works on the principle of mutual induction. It steps down the 220 V ac into 12 V ac.

Bridge Rectifier: In this automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients, the bridge rectifier is used for converting the ac voltages into dc voltages and is connected at the output of transformer. It consists of four diodes.

Blocking Diode: In this system, the blocking diode is connected at the output of bridge rectifier for blocking the reverse polarity current, in other words it protects the input transformer.

Voltage Regulator: In this automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients, voltage regulator is used for regulating the 12 V dc into 5 V dc for supplying the power to whole components of this system. In this system 7805 IC is used for regulating purposes.

LCD Display: In this automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients, the LCD display is used for displaying the patient’s body temperature. This LCD display is interfaced with microcontroller and is powered up with 5 V dc through voltage regulator. This LCD display consists of 16 Pins.

Temperature Sensor: In this automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients, the DS 1621 IC is used such as a temperature sensor. It is 8pins integrated circuit IC, which has dual oscillator architecture. This architecture converts the analogue value of temperature into digital output in the form of voltages. This IC is interfaced with microcontroller and powered up with 5 V dc.

Microcontroller 18F452: In this automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients, the pic microcontroller is used for efficient and intelligent control of this system. It is 40 Pins integrated circuit IC, powered up with 5 V dc and is interfaced with temperature sensor, encoder, and LCD display. It is programmed in c language with the help of mikro/c software.

RF Module:  In this automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients, the RF module is used for transmitting or receiving the radio signal between two devices. The RF module, one has transmitter for transmit the RF signal and one has RF receiver for receive the RF signal. Here the RF transmitter is interfaced with decoder which decode the signals, means it selects the one desired digital signal from many signals and sends towards transmitter, which consist of antenna. The RF module is powered up with 5 V dc supply.

Working Principle of the Automatic Wireless Health Monitoring System in Hospitals for Patients

This automatic wireless health monitoring system in hospitals for patients works on the principle of temperature sensing. This whole system consists of two units one is transmitting unit and second one is receiving unit. Both have separate power supply and LCD display. The transmitting unit is placed near the patient and its leads are connected to the patient’s body. Transmitting unit sense the patient’s body temperature through the temperature sensor DS 1621 and gives the digital output to microcontroller in the form of voltages. The microcontroller which is its intelligent control unit, it compares the current temperature value to previous temperature value, if it is same then it does not change the output value, similarly if it is change then change the output value. After that, microcontroller sends this change value to RF transmitter through the decoder and displays this change value at LCD display. Similarly, the receiving unit receives this change value through RF receiver and sends this value to microcontroller, then microcontroller displays this change value at receiving unit LCD display. Because the receiving unit is placed near to the doctor or any other related person then he can easily know the temperature of any patient body without going towards him. Then the patient could be easily treat according to his body temperature.

Applications and Advantages of Automatic Wireless Health Monitoring System in Hospitals for Patients

  1. This automatic wireless health monitoring system could be used in hospitals for knowing the patient body temperature automatically without wasting any time.
  2. By using this system, the patient could be treat timely and save his life.
  3. This system could be also used for heat beat rate or blood pressure etc. by just adding the appropriate sensors.
  4. By using this system, the man power could be reduced.
  5. This system is more compact, more reliable, less costly and less consume power as compare to the other medical equipment’s.
