In this article you will learn everything you need to know about printed circuit board (PCB). Printed circuit board is most very important for electronics engineers to make electronics circuits. Electronics and Electrical engineers usually ignores the importance of  technique and many engineers don’t even know what printed circuit board exactly is? If you don’t know anything about it, this article will help you to get useful knowledge related to it and its designing. I have also included Video tutorials at the end of this article . These video tutorials are all about how to design printed circuit board using  proteus software.

In this article you will learn:
- What is  a printed circuit board ?
- Layers of printed circuit board? Copper side of printed circuit board ?
- what are traces in printed circuit board  and how to select their width?
- Video tutorials training for PCB designing ?
What is a printed circuit board  or PCB:
As the name suggests of Printed circuit board, it is board on that circuit is print with the help of some procedure. It is a type of board which connects various components together with the help of copper traces on board. It is made of a copper. A proper procedure is used to print circuit on that board I will discuss procedure in video tutorials with practical examples. Before the invention of Printed circuit board circuits were made with connecting wires which was very hectic and long process to make any circuit. With the invention of this technique, you can even make a this board at your home with very ease. These board are widely used in electronics devices like computer mother board, your mobile board and even every single electronics device have printed circuit board inside. Diagram above shows a power supply printed circuit board.

What are layers in PCB Designing?
Layers are most important key points in its designing. It can be made with up to 12 layers. But maximum circuits available in market are single layer. Now the question come into someone’s mind what is a layer? To better understand what is layer, have a look at pictures shown below:

As shown in above picture, there are traces of copper which are used to connect components to each other and it is basically a layer of board. The above diagram is a single layer  board. Because it has copper layers only on one side of board and other side of above board is for placement or assembly of components. I will discuss in video training how to make such boards. The diagram below shows the top view of a board where we place components and it is called top silk of printed circuit board.

What are traces in PCB and how to select their width ?
Traces  are made of copper which are used to connect point with each other and other words the lines through which current flow from one point to another point as shown in above figure number one. There are usually two types of traces :
- Signal Traces
- Power Traces
Signal traces width is small and power traces width is bigger and its depend on amount of current flow through these power traces. Signal traces are usually small in width. Because current flow  through these traces are usually in mili Amperes. Now the question is how to select width of traces according to magnitude of current? I will answer this question in video tutorials which are given at the end of this article. Diagram shown below, shows the power and signal traces of  board. Yellow arrow indicates signal traces and black arrow indicates power traces.

Video Tutorial on PCB designing using Proteus ARES :
In these video tutorials you will learn  how to make it in Proteus ARES software. There are many software available for PCB designing like Orcad, Eagle, express PCB. But if you are beginner in designing,  I recommend you to use Proteus ARES. Because it is easy to use software for printed circuit board designing.I will also post articles on Eagle , Orcad for its designing in coming weeks. I assure you that after watching following video tutorials, you will be able to make your own  board. But to become professional in circuit designing, you must practice different examples. Good luck 🙂
Tutorial number : 1 Basic overview of PCB designing and schematic diagramsÂ
Tutorial number : 2 Â What is PCB Package? and How to use package ?
Tutorial number : 3 Complete PCB designing with exampleÂ
Tutorial number : 4 Complete PCB designing with example part 2
I will also add video tutorial about how to make PCB package in Proteus if it is not available. If you have any issue while doing PCB designing, let me know with your comments.I will try to answer to your issues as soon as possible. This is all effort from my side to help others who want to learn circuit designing. What you can do right now to help others? just share this post with your friends and juniors by clicking on social sharing buttons shown below. That’s what you can do right now. Thanks 🙂
good article very helpful.
Helpful article and source of info for engineers.
You did not told in any tutorial that how to make pcb package if it is not available in proteus???
THANKS
Great work and helpful, please can the English version be avaliable
Hello, Bilal Malik, my problem is how to transfer the designed work onto the pc board. Method for how do that is what I am requiring for. Please let me have it. Thank you.
hi everybody.can u send 4 me hybrid inverter pcb complete.plz send 4 me
excellent work………….bro
